And Now, For a Major Announcement . . .
Interesting. There’s no definitive answer on where the phrase “letting the cat out of the bag” came from. The two most popular theories — one referencing the notorious cat-o-nine-tails, and one dealing with livestock — are debunked in the same articles as they’re described. I’d have to agree. Seriously, who would mistake a cat in a bag for a pig in a bag? If you think you would, throw a cat into a burlap sack, sling it over your shoulder, and start walking.
Regardless where the phrase came from, I’m about to utilize it and release said feline from its confines.
I’ve been quietly sitting on a project I’ve been invited to participate in, but since it’s been mentioned twice on FaceBook, and since the owner of said project has given me the okay, I’ve decided to divulge it. To wit: I have been invited by Best Selling Author Devin O’Branagan to contribute a story to an anthology based on her book Witch Hunt (which I reviewed here). It’s exciting, nerve-wracking, humbling, and an awesome opportunity that I must say, I leapt at. I’m beyond thrilled to have received the invite along with several other awesome writers. We’ll be taking characters from the original novel and expanding their stories. I’ve finally nailed down the details of my chosen character (who I’m thrilled with) and am ready to really start pounding on it. I already have 2k worth of snippets down, and now just need to blend everything into a cohesive unit and really flesh it out.
Thank you, Devin, for the opportunity, as well as the faith in my abilities.
