Heating it Up
So it seems I’ve been leaving readers chilled with the setting of some of my recent WIPpets. I promised ReGi something . . . warmer . . . this week. I don’t have anything that specifically mentions a tropical climate but I’m thinking this scene from Crossing Paths might just fit the bill. Remember Rainie and Ethan? My much-languishing UF/PR? I’m not sure this will make the final cut; it’s just one of those random scenes that demanded I write it. I seem to do that with every WIP. Mostly I write in a somewhat logical progression. Then, a scene pops into my head for somewhere I’ve yet to get. Who am I to argue? I write it. Save it in a file appropriately named ‘Scenes’ and stick it in the manuscript at a later date if it happens to fit. If it doesn’t? *shrug* Then I consider it good exercise. Possibly I recycle it for something later.
In any case, for 10/9/13 you get 9 short paragraphs from Crossing Paths. And some music to accompany it because this song is very much Ethan but will make lots more sense someday when you find out more about him. 😉
Rainie bit her lower lip. Wrong. Just wrong. “Look, Ethan, I’m not really the one night stand kind of girl.”
His fingers grazed her forearm and a jolt like lightning shot through her. His smoldering eyes trailed up to her face. “We don’t have to stand.”
“Gods, you’re such an ass. I don’t kno –“
The rest of her sentence left with her breath as his mouth covered hers. Every nerve in her body jumped. She braced her palms against the wall behind her in an effort to keep them from wandering across his body.
Wrong. So wrong. He’s dangerous. You don’t even know exactly what he is.
Well, besides really, freaking, tasty.
His tongue pushed her lips apart and Rainie sucked in a gulp of air. He backed her the remaining few inches to the wall, holding her there with his body. Her fingers twitched with the desire to touch him.
He nuzzled her neck. “Please?”
There, is everyone feeling warmer now?
Make sure to come back Friday as I have a very special interview with the hot hunks of Mara Valderran’s Heirs of War. Hmm, how appropriate is that, right? If you want to know more about Mara and her soon to be released book before then, check out her Web Site. Oh, and there’s also a give away. Everyone loves a give away, right?
