Falling Into WIPpet Wednesday
Before I jump into this week’s WIPpet, I need to announce: the brainchild of the incredibly creative Mara Valderran. It’s August, and that means Fall is upon us! To celebrate the cooler weather and keep your mind off any back to school blues, we’ve put together the Fall Into Fantasy Tour. This tour celebrates the wonderful fantasy books that you can dive into–right now!
But what’s a tour unless we are giving away free stuff? That’s right! Each week, we will be giving away some awesome prizes from the author being featured. And to wrap things up at the end of the promotion in December, we’re going to have a huge Facebook party all weekend long featuring these authors and more!

As for ROW80…I pretty much fell on my face. EoD is not moving. That’s not good. After skimming through my assorted plot notes, I decided to start over. Yes, from the beginning – or near enough to the beginning to make no difference. An alternate beginning that I had discarded in favor of the one I have been fighting with. Maybe that will unstick me. Maybe that’s the actual road I should be on. Time to kill some darlings because, at this point, I’ve got nothing to lose.
And just where is Driev, you ask? Whee-ell…he’s been through a round of Betas. Been edited. Been smacked about a bit. And his reward? I’ve decided to try the traditional route with him. Why? Depends which day you ask me. Some days I have no idea. Others, it ranges from a sense of self-worth and validation, to the fact that I don’t have the amount of time needed to properly market The Lightness & Dark series, how can I add The Coinblade Chronicles to that? So far I’ve only queried two agents from the top of my list, my Dream Team. First was a prompt reject based on the query. The second was a request for a partial. Henceseveral weeks ago. Although I didn’t totally splat when I received the rejection, I was bummed. As of this writing, the third query is out and I’m slaving away at the dreaded synopsis. I’ll go through my list of agents and then we’ll see…
Okay, on to the real reason for posting on Wednesday…the WIPpet. Today, 20 sentences (plus or minus because that brings us to the end of this section) from How Not To Buy A Dragon. Everything that came before is still here. Last week, if you recall, we ended with talk of golden nuggets, and Janni deciding to invite Dachus to stay for dinner. This week, she continues on with her…planning.
“Sit him between Radorth and Dale.” Better and better.
Fiona waggled a wooden spoon at her. “You’re up to no good, Janni. You should just kill the poor man and be done with it. Hang his nuggets from the rafters as a warning to others if that makes you happy.”
“Much too quick. This will be more entertaining and–” she held up a hand to stop Fiona’s objection “–will hopefully teach him a very valuable lesson. One that he can take back to where he came from.”
“The Proupunua’s private court, I believe you said.” Fiona frowned. “You are familiar with the dangers in poking a bear with a sharp stick, are you not?”
“Pah! A bear is nothing compared to a dragon.”
“And did he poke a dragon?”
Janni wedged her fists onto her hips. “He poked me. One in the same.”
Fiona sighed and shook her head. She turned back to her cooking. “As you will, Master Jannis. As you will.”
Don’t forget to visit the other WIPpeteers to see what they’re cooking up by following the linky in the sidebar. Anyone’s welcome to join in the fun. Come back Monday and join in Fall Into Fantasy.
