Cover Reveal First Choice, Second Chance a Romance by Fallon Brown

Today I’m sharing fellow WIPpeteer’s Fallon Brown‘s cover reveal for her novel First Choice, Second Chance, the first in her small town contemporary romance series Kurztown, set to be released 8/18/15. And, just to keep you in suspense just a bit longer, the blurb:

One wrong choice doesn’t have to lead to another

Seven years ago, he watched her drive away.

Lila Corelli was the love of Mason Akeley’s life, but she chose a music career and another man over him. He thought it would destroy him, but he’s been scraping by; on the family farm and in life. Now, she’s back in town, and he feels like he’s barely hanging on.

She made a wrong choice.

Lila knows she made a mistake. She thought she had been on the right path; to her career, love, her life. Instead, she never saw the disaster one wrong choice could cause. Now, with everything gone, she returns to her hometown, hoping to find her way to a new path.

Mason’s love for Lila has never died, but he’s afraid to open himself to be hurt again. Lila chose the wrong future once, and she worries she’ll be making another bad choice that will only lead to more destruction. But, if they can untangle their past from their present, they just might be able to find their future together.

Okay, ready for it?

And to add to your excitement, an excerpt of your very own.

He held up a hand to stop her. “Give me a shot of Jack.” He caught Lila at the edge of his vision. “Actually make it a double.”

Jess hesitated then poured the drink and passed it over to him. He took the first sip and winced at the burn. He wasn’t sure if he would ever get used to it. The whiskey warmed the parts of him that had gone cold with Lila’s arrival. He kept his eyes focused on the wall across the bar as he took the second sip. He still knew the moment she stepped up beside him. He didn’t know if her scent still lived in his memory and he recognized it, or if it went deeper. He didn’t even have to hear her voice. It was in his head, in his dreams, every day and every night. When she ordered a drink, it twisted around his heart again.

His fingers tightened around the glass. He was almost afraid it would shatter right there in his fist. He dragged in some air through his nose, but it only came back out sounded strangled. He started to turn away. He needed to put some space between them. He couldn’t handle having her so close. As soon as he took a step, her hand was on his arm, the muscles in it cording tighter. “Mason.”

He was going to explode, shatter into tiny pieces no one would ever be able to put back together again. He had to get away. He didn’t even respond to her saying his name. He set the glass on the top of the bar. It must have been harder than he planned because a crack sounded when he did it. He didn’t even look back. “Put it on my tab, Jess. All of it.”

His head pounded. He didn’t think it was the alcohol or the music. It was Lila. It had always been Lila. He pushed out through the door. Then braced his hand against the side of the building and squeezed his eyes shut. The door opened again, and he didn’t even look behind him. Instead he strode across the small parking lot to his truck. She called his name again, but he didn’t stop. He checked his mirror to make sure she wasn’t right behind him, he certainly didn’t hate her that much. She still stood close to the building. She had her arms wrapped around her, and stared after him. His eyes started to burn. Then, he backed out of his parking spot and pulled out of the lot. The gravel spun under his tires, but he didn’t care. He wanted to put distance between them. Before he lost the grip he barely kept on his sanity.

Awesome stuff! Add it on Goodreads or pre-order now.

A bit about the author: Fallon Brown was born and raised in a tiny town in the northwestern corner of Pennsylvania. At one time, she dreamed of having a cabin in the woods or mountains where she could be left alone to write. Instead she spent three years studying psychology before realizing that wasn’t for her. She now lives outside of a slightly larger small town in the same corner of her home state with her husband, two children, dog, and cat.

She spends her days interfering in the lives of fictional characters while trying to keep a semblance of a clean house. Often the clean house bit fails.

Follow her on Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, and don’t forget to check out her blog for all the latest news and updates.

Cover Reveal for Lower Education

Today is another Bonus Monday. Not only did you get Fall Into Fantasy this morning, but now I give you the cover reveal for Lower Education written by A. M. Leibowitz. Available for purchase by following these links:  Amazon     Smashwords       Barnes and Noble

Now, a bit about the book…

Phin Patterson is an educational consultant dissatisfied with his job and his life. On a mission to complete one last assignment before escaping his unfulfilling career and figure out what he wants, he accepts a commission from Donald Murdock at the New York State Education Department. Suddenly, he finds himself on his way to evaluate a tiny school in New York’s Southern Tier, not far from the town where he grew up. Now his only goal is to get in, do his job, and get out before anyone from his past remembers him.

That turns out to be easier said than done. Dani Sloane, the sharp-witted administrative assistant to the principal, learns the truth about why Phin is really there. With the help of her friends, she sets out to unmask him and force the local board of education to stop the plans that could ruin their school. Discovering that her sometime-lover is an old business associate of Phin’s only complicates both the situation and their relationship.

Meanwhile, Phin, who has committed himself to keeping his emotional distance, can’t resist the charm of the town and its residents—especially the school psychologist, who turns out to be an old friend he hasn’t seen in over twenty years. While Dani works to take him down and save her school, Phin wrestles with learning how to do the right thing, including telling the truth to the man with whom he’s already falling in love.

And now….drumroll, please….Lower Education Cover

And, to wet your appetitie even more, an excerpt:

Alex spun around and threw his hands in the air. “Why are you still here? Go find someone else to bother.”

“What if I think the information you have is more valuable?” Phin crossed his arms and tilted his head, jutting out his chin.

“And what if I think you’re wasting your time? I have nothing here that would be of interest to you.”

The corner of Phin’s mouth curled upward. “I would say you’re mistaken. There’s plenty here for me to take interest in.” His gaze traveled downward slowly, making Alex feel exposed. Heat spread across his face, followed by a surge of anger. Placing his hands on the table and leaning toward Phin, Alex replied, “I don’t know what kind of game you’re playing, but it won’t work on me. Is this how you’ve handled your other clients?”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“Yes, you do.”

“All right, you got me.” Phin chuckled softly. He moved in closer and lowered his voice. “I once signed an entire multi-year textbook contract on my appeal alone.” His smile faltered, and he looked away briefly. He snapped his attention back to Alex and narrowed his eyes. “You’re not the most difficult client I’ve ever worked with, though it’s close.”

“I’m not your client. There’s no reason for your behavior.”

Phin licked his lips. “I didn’t make a mistake in the bar the other night.”

And a teaser…because…

Get in a fight with a feather duster?

Fictional Friday Continues

If you missed the inaugural post for

Fictional Friday

you’ll need to pop into the Way Back Machine and look at last week’s installment. A quick recap of what it is, along with submission guidelines, is below…way below… This week is short and sweet as I’m racing to get everything ready to head out of town for the weekend.

I did finally get a review written for Veil of the Deserters ~ Bloodsounder’s Arc Book Two by Jeff Salyards which you can find here and also on Amazon.

Onto some books you might be interested in:

  • Eventide ~ Book Two of the Meratis Trilogy by Krista Walsh Genre: Fantasy   This is next up on my TBR list. It’s available at Amazon among other places.
  • Devin O’Branagan‘s books Red Hot Property (a blend of humor, romance & suspense) and Show Dog Sings the Blues (a delightful tale of mistaken identity when a pampered show dog is finds herself working on a ranch) are now available as audio books.
  • Liberty or Death: The Soldier Chroniclesby David Cook described as “an authentic historical story set against the brutal backdrop of Ireland’s Great Rebellion, the first novella in The Soldier Chronicles series.” I got to read an early draft of this one. The finished copy is on my kindle toward the top of my TBR list.

Other things of interest, although that’s not a personal endorsement:

What’s it all about, you ask? Ahh…fiction. And Friday. Reading. Writing. No arithmetic. Whereas I’m mostly all about fantasy, urban fantasy, and a sprinkling of paranormal romance, I read across many genres so you’ll find a mix here.  Some things to note:

  • If you’re an author with an upcoming release, drop me a line via e-mail.
  • If you’re a reader who has just read something outstanding and want to share, likewise.
  • Book signings, release events, quotes, tidbits, industry/indie news etc. etc.? Pass them along.

Fictional Friday Debut

Welcome to the first installment of

Fictional Friday

What’s it all about, you ask? Ahh…fiction. And Friday. Reading. Writing. No arithmetic. Whereas I’m mostly all about fantasy, urban fantasy, and a sprinkling of paranormal romance, I read across many genres so you’ll find a mix here. (See below if you’d like to contribute something as either a reader or a writer.)
To kick things off let’s have a show of hands, who is on Wattpad? Who has heard of Wattpad? I admit, I’m a complete newbie to it. I joined last October but until recently did little as far as interacting or posting. Last week I decided I would start posting First of Her Kind ~ A Darkness & Light Novel Book One Which means, as long as you’re not bothered by having to wait days between chapters you can go to Wattpad and read it. For free. Who doesn’t like free?Today I posted Chapter Two. Going forward I’ll be posting chapters on Mondays and Fridays. You can find it here.

Moving on…I’m way behind in reviews but some books of note that I have recently devoured (in no particular order) include:

  • Warriors ~ Book Three in the Druids Trilogy by Barb Galler-Smith & Josh Langston Review forthcoming Genre: Historical Fiction with a touch of Magic
  • The Butterfly Storm by Kate Frost Reviewed here  Genre: Contemporary Romance
  • Sworn in Steel ~ A Tale of the Kin Book Two by Douglas Hulick Review forthcoming Genre: Fantasy
  • Veil of the Deserters ~ Bloodsounder’s Arc Book Two by Jeff Salyards (who I interviewed after I devoured Book One last year, and who I will be interviewing again…possibly Monday) Review forthcoming Genre: Fantasy
  • Evensong ~ Book One of the Meratis Trilogy by Krista Walsh Review here Genre: Fantasy
  • The Fallen by Keri Lake Which I thought I reviewed somewhere but can’t find. O_o  Genre: Adult Paranormal Steam (meaning over 18 and no tender sensibilities)

What am I reading now? I am in ARC heaven!

  • Crown of Flames ~ Heirs of War Book Two by Mara Valderran Genre: Fantasy (I just finished a couple days ago. What a ride!)
  • Bound ~ Book One by Kate Sparkes Genre: Fantasy (I got to read an early version of this and I can’t wait to see the finished product!)
  • Eventide ~ Book Two of the Meratis Trilogy by Krista Walsh

And I want to give a huge Congratulations! to Kourtney Heintz author of Six Train to Wisconsin on her much-deserved success. See my previous posts regarding Six Train here and here. I look forward to getting to meet Kourtney in person in July when she makes a stop in Wisconsin.

If you use your imagination while reading a good fictional book it takes on a whole new dimension
